Latest Craft Creations

I have several different areas of "crafting" that I like to do. Sewing. Crocheting. Jewelry making. Paper crafts. But the desire to do each of them kind of comes and goes. I just finished up a bunch of sewing and my crafting mood is starting to swing back around to crocheting.

I decided I wanted to try my hand at making some stuffed animals. I got a book with some patterns and have found some fun free ones online too. 

I started out with making a cow. I had thought maybe it would be one for the new baby but as soon as I was finished with it and Zethan got a hold of it and I saw how much he loved it, I told him he could keep it!

Then Titus found a pattern he wanted me to use for his. He wanted a dolphin! They are very inexpensive crafts to make but take time! Titus kept asking, "Are you done yet? Are you done yet?"....

He was very happy with the end result though!

And miss Lillie Loo wanted a kitten. (When she just brought it to me to take a picture of it, she said the eye and the whiskers needed redone-they played with them on the trampoline last night).

The kitten's name is Melody and Lillie picked out the colors for it =) 

I thought with the new baby coming it would be fun for them to have something special and new here just for themselves. I have been making a lot of baby things so it was fun to make something for the little munchkins too! Something to make them feel special too!

And of course she wanted to pose with her kitty. Crazy, unbrushed hair and all =)

Latest Project {crochet edition}

I have seen different versions of these on etsy. I really liked them, but didn't necessarily want to spend money to buy one since I knew how to crochet.

I did end up buying a pattern but it didn't work up the way I wanted it to. And I thought I could figure out a way to make it much cuter and easier.

So this is what I came up with. I did many trial ones before I finally got the pattern written down just the way I wanted it to be.

It buttons in the back, but mostly that is for looks. It makes it cuter from the back =) And the poppy flower is what really makes this fun!

House Slippers

Lately I have been wanting to do some crocheting projects. Maybe it has to do with the cooler weather. I'm not sure. But anyway, etsy is filled with super cute crochet patterns. I found a cute little pattern for house slippers. More modern than your grandma's crocheted slippers =)
They are fun and they were worked up pretty quickly!

Its kind of fun making something for myself once in a while=) Although, I made them last night after the kids went to bed and this morning Lillie saw them and is begging for me to make her some=)

And of course baby Z thinks any shoes left in the open are fair game for him to confiscate. So those little piggies are his=)

I have a few more new patterns to try out but I probably should make myself work on sewing projects for the upcoming craft fairs! I have lots of new products and so does Natalie! We are very excited for this year! Have a great Friday!!

Mod Podge , Wooden Letters, and Scrapbook Paper

This is an idea that my Mom first did about a year ago. She bought some really cute scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby and bought the letters for T-I-T-U-S and L-I-L-L-I-E (and also for my little sister K-I-M-A-L-E-E). Since no one knew yet what our baby's name was going to be she didn't get his name bought. And I have yet to buy them as well. She got the letters cut out for Titus but that was about as far as she got and then it got put away and forgotten about. Until recently that is!
So Lillie and I gathered the supplies while the little boys were napping.
We got the letters out (bought from, of course, Hobby Lobby-when they were 50% off).
The scrapbook paper.
The Mod Podge for gluing and sealing.
The wax paper for protecting the table.
The foam brush to apply the glue.
A pencil.
Some scissors.

Now to begin,
It is really simple to do and it spruces up the letters so much! Just lay the wooden letter face down onto the backside of the scrapbook paper and use a pencil to trace around it. Then you cut it out.

Since the paper for Titus was already cut out all we had to do was put a layer of Mod Podge on the back of the cut out paper letters and a layer on the front of the wooden letter.
Then we lined the paper up onto the letter and smoothed it out.
After we made sure it was all smoothed out without any bubbles,(Or at least a minimal amount of air bubbles) we put another layer of Mod Podge over the whole top of the paper to kind of seal it on.
You could probably skip this step if you wanted.
Then we just sat it out to dry for awhile.

There is Lillie doing her job. She was in charge of putting a layer of Mod Podge onto the wooden letter. She thoroughly enjoyed it!

The letters are now hanging in the kids room. I didn't get a picture of them though. It doesn't really look too fancy on their wall yet because we are still kind of in transition as to what rooms we will all eventually have. That deserves another post all by itself=) But my Hubby has a very long honey-do list=)

And I will try and have a post about what my little sis Kimalee's room looks like now! It is super cute. And actually her letters didn't get covered in scrapbook paper, but they are super cute!
