Sweet Potato Harvest

Today we decided to dig up our sweet potatoes! We had a grand time digging them and laughing at their funny shapes and how HUGE they were. It really was pretty funny! I had no idea we had let them get that big!
Here are some of the shapes! One of them looked like a heart. Not a cutesy little heart. But like a heart that came out of a body. Ha!
So funny!
Titus helped me get them harvested. I dug them up and he pulled them out of the dirt and put them in the wagon. That wagon was heavy!

So they are out "curing" for a couple of hours in the sun. I am just pretending like I know what I am doing. But really, this is the first year that I grew them. I should have taken pictures of the patch before I dug them up. The vines were everywhere and it was kind of hard to find where to dig. And I ended up chopping some of them in half. Oops. I think I'll use flags to mark where to dig next year.

But as far as I could read on the good old google search, it shouldn't matter that they are so huge?? In fact, as long as they weren't rotting, some info I found, said that the longer you leave them in the ground the more nutrients they have? Don't know if it is true or not? I guess we'll find out if they at least taste okay. I sure hope so!

Quick Update

It has been kind of busy around here lately. This is the start of something new for our family this year. I am homeschooling Lillie! So we have been a little more busy, getting schooling done and figuring out how our days should go. I just saw a logo on someone's website that said,

"I homeschool. What's your superpower?"

It is going pretty well. Today finished the third week. It really has been going quickly. She of course misses her friends from school but is looking forward to Awana starting and now she enjoys Sunday School even more than she already did!

She enjoys playing the part of art teacher to Titus. Haha. He doesn't seem to mind too much when she instructs him in the fine points of drawing hearts =)

We got to go on a walk this morning while it was still cool out and we are very much looking forward to the cooler temps predicted in a few days! I foresee spending much time playing outside on those days!

Hopefully I will get a few more posts up than I have been lately. But I just wanted to drop a little note to say we hadn't disappeared forever from my blog =)
